While attending Fullerton College to complete GEs and lower division classes, I am also studying professional audio engineering to learn how to produce and record music for a secondary career. I have a passion for music and I have many years of playing the tuba in an orchestral setting. In the recording classes I am taking we invite many musicians to record for free.
At Fullerton College we have professional equipment and microphones. On multiple occasions I have operated the 24 track analog mixer or Pro Tools. I plan on adding many other session recordings here.
Below is an example recording session where we mic'ed a drum kit in many different configurations. The class experimented with using Royer 121s as overheads and using Telefunken AR 51s as room microphones. We also used a Shure SM 81 to pickup some of the snare and beater of the kick. This session I mainly set up the microphones. The audio is from the recorded session. Many thanks to the amazing drummer Matt!
